Quick Note on Wal-Mart....Not taking sides in that battle, but since Sam Walton passed away, Wal-Mart is going down the drain. They are getting money hungry. We do more mark ups in a week more then we do mark downs. Its sad, but it use to be the other way around...I know how Wal-Mart works, how it ticks and how its heart beats...I make it my buisness to know...They screw me on a daily basis, but one day I will screw them HA! Anyway...But yeah, they are screwing over alot of people. They know they can get away with it because Wal-Mart is so convient. A one stop shop..They have put so many small town buisnesses out of buisness just to make their sales go up, to add to the ever growing pot of money for the C.E.O.s. Like they need more money.
On the inside of Wal-Mart, they screw us over even worse. This is a sad but very true fact.. The harder work you do, the less you get paid. And vise-versa. The easier, less work you do, the more you get paid. Sure with some of them, like photo lab for instance, has a little bit more technical things to it, but they do less strenous work, and a pay grade Level 5. ( Level 1-Minimum Wage. Level 2-+.20 cents, Level 3 add in level 2 pay then add 20. Level 4 Same as 3 and add 20 cents, Level 5, same as four add 30 cents Level 6 add in 5 and 30 cents, Level 7 same as 6 add in 30 cents...Then you hit salary..Assisstant Manages, Co-Managers, Store Managers, Asset Protection Coordinators, Market Team and up. But for Level 1-7 you also add in any retail experince you have, and that depends on your start pay.) Anyway. Example. Cart Pusher, Level 1. You bust your arse all day dragging in carts no matter the weather..you make minimum wage...Now. Connection Center, a Level 5. Depending on store size the associate might have 20 boxes of frieght a day...Maybe a total of 40 minutes to stock to the shelves...You answer random questions about phones, different plans ( Which you have all the plan packets under the counter.) And on occasion you sell a phone and/or sign someone to a new contract, which isnt hard, mostly done on the computer and over the phone. And other then that they just kinda piddle helping with electronics.
But on the people getting screwed part again....The C.E.O.s recently passed down a new way to unload the trucks each day... Use to when a box came down the line you would look that label it had on the box, and put it on a random pallet with the rest of the boxes for that department, and you had however long it took you to unload the truck. Now the departments are divided up into zones, and depending on how manys pieces of frieght are on the trailor, you have a set time limit you HAVE TO unload the trailor in. They also tailor in how many people are unloading it...We have a chart, line up the number of people, and how many pieces and that gives us are time. But get this...We have to key it in on the computer when we start, which starts a timer at home office, and then go back into the computer, and stop the timer when done. And if we are to fast OR to slow about unloading it, we get in deep crap because we didn't unload it in the time the C.E.O.s think it should have been unloaded in.
And the messed up thing about that is, they went to a fully staffed store, gave them a month or so to practice and and did a study on how long it took them on various trucks, and gestimated on the rest of the different amounts of pieces.
Another messed up thing is that there is a thing called Open Door Policy. Meaning you can go to a member of managment, and complain about someone, or something, and it remain completely confindintal that it was you that complained, and the matter will be resolved But within a matter of a day or two it is all over the store that you complained....AND there is a 0 tolerance to sexual harrasment policy with the company ( Means you get fired first offense.)...But they show favortism there..There was a fellow at my store who had 4 reported counts of sexual harrasment, and all he got was a slap on the hand, even after being caught by numerous people.
Anyway, I could rant for hours on Wal-Mart, but I tired, need sleep, and yall probaly tired of my rant, but after all, this is a rant room, right Echo? And it does pay my bills, but DANG!!!! But I shall continue this rant another time.
